The last six months have been incredibly busy and hard for me - but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel! One of the ways I push the "reset" button in my life is to organize and clean (yes, Mitzi has the best husband ever). I just spent the last day re-organizing my office and catching up on my "in" box. Now, I have to focus on "spring cleaning" at the house. But it got me thinking: what if I took this same "spring cleaning" approach in my spiritual life? What priorities need adjusting? What bad habits need to be "purged"? What sinful attitudes or behaviors need to be thrown away? What area of discipleship needs to be "spruced up"?
Sometimes our life with God gets cluttered in the same way our houses or offices get cluttered, and this leaves us feeling behind, overwhelmed, stressed, and frustrated. I encourage you to take some time to think about your life with God, and start with this question: What "spring cleaning" needs to be done in my spiritual "house"?
My answer is I need to focus more on prayer. Jenny (my amazing assistant) and I have been rearranging my schedule and she is getting me more organized and focused. One of the things she added was a set time of prayer for me and her and anyone else in our office to pray intently for Alameda. My wife is helping me with this at home.
What's your answer to the question?

I need a little "spring cleaning" in the following areas....I need to read the Bible more, instead of just a few verses daily. I also have been thinking lately that I need to work on teaching/showing my kids more about God, in our everyday lives.
I'm working on teaching my children. Recently, I've started reading a chapter a day of a good children's Bible Story Book to my little one & although I'm technically challenged, I've been texting my teen Bible verses at lunch time. I just thought she texts so much, what a great opportunity to send her positive, God-focused messages.
